The Test Development Associate will ensure that the examinations developed and published by the NBCRNA meet the highest standards of excellence, content accuracy and editorial quality. This position will manage the item development and maintenance processes for all NBCRNA exams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
Coordinate the process of item review and item bank maintenance with subject matter experts using NBCRNA’s item banking software, to include;
Determine item writing needs and provide direction to subcommittees and panels on item writing assignments;
Perform comprehensive editorial review of new items for content, clarity, and adherence to published and house style guidelines;
Provide guidance to subject matter experts (SMEs) on new item authoring and on needed revision of items flagged after mentor review, pretest, or drift review;
Facilitate clear and continuous communication between NBCRNA and SMEs, and between mentor and mentee SMEs
Provide support for SME issues accessing SharePoint, NBCRNA item bank, online books, and other technology platforms
Maintain training materials across platforms for new item writers, including style guides, item-writing guidelines, and online courses;
Coordinate scheduling and planning of calls and meetings, communicating hospitality requirements to appropriate NBCRNA staff;
Provide examination program support to include:
Assist the Director of Test Development with quality review of exam form/pool content and functionality;
Participate in vendor management and oversight, ensuring test cycle deadlines are met, software performs according to specifications, and the highest security standards are upheld;
Maintain library of testing research articles and summaries for use in NBCRNA and industry initiatives;
Assist with and staff examination panels, including examination subcommittees, standard setting and professional practice analysis panels;
Assist with and staff NCE/SEE/NSPM/CPCA research subcommittees;
Other duties as assigned or needed.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelors in a liberal arts or science-related field, plus 2-3 years related experience.

The National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting patient safety by enhancing provider quality in the field of nurse anesthesia. We accomplish our mission through the development and implementation of credentialing programs that support lifelong learning among nurse anesthetists. Each year well over 2,400 individuals pass the NBCRNA’s National Certification Examination and are able to enter into specialty nurse anesthesia practice. In addition, well over 50,000 nurse anesthetists in the United States and its territories participate in the recertification process on a periodic basis throughout their careers.
