The Assistant Program Manager II provides the vision and strategy for the ICMA University Webinar Program – a highly rated program within ICMA’s Professional Development Team. This job requires critical thinking from both sides of the brain: the ability to be organized, manage multiple deadlines and respond quickly, along with the ability to think creatively, understand the audience and deliver content that is relevant and timely. This job requires someone who takes full ownership of this program. Someone who is conscientious and can stretch to meet a revenue goal or deadline. Someone who is thoughtful and can take the time to help a customer with a question or concern.
What you'll do:
Work with director to set revenue and expense goals
Monitor revenue and expenses
Identify budget concerns, proactively work to meet targets
Ensure timely processing and payment of invoices
Identify topics that are relevant to ICMA audience
Identify and solicit subject matter experts to deliver content
Manage event calendar and coordinate dates/times with all parties
Write description of each event
Build event in learning management system (LMS) with assistance from LMS vendor
Coordinate with marketing team to ensure proper outreach through all of ICMA’s marketing channels
Work with Customer Service Center to provide calendar of events/marketing information/program updates so that team is prepared to answer inquiries
Guide presenters so that they create program outline and PowerPoint
Conduct prep session with speakers and ICMA’s platform provider
Conduct the live event
Review and share appropriate reports, including registrations, survey results; monitor reports and make appropriate recommendations based on trends
Assists director in the development of strategic plans and online learning priorities; ensures alignment of content development with association topic priorities.
Consults with local government managers, department heads, professors, trainers, ICMA staff and partners, and others to research current needs for webinars; evaluates existing products for revision or reissue; makes product recommendations accordingly.
Locates, selects, and engages subject-matter experts to serve as webinar presenters.
What you need to be successful in this role:
Education and Experience:
Degree in Communications, Education, English, Public Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-5-years experience in professional development, education, publishing, marketing or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of public administration and local government desirable.
Self-starter with strong work ethic.
Strong writing skills.
Ability to think creatively.
Ability to think quickly and respond to changing priorities.
Demonstrated knowledge of editorial principles, practices, and techniques.
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, priority-setting, and problem-solving skills.
Skill in providing constructive feedback to presenters.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with ICMA members and staff and outside editors, authors, consultants, and organizations.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, managing and cultivating relationships with a variety of teams and partners.
Familiarity with databases and /or association software systems.
Knowledge of and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
