This position assists the Vice President of Curriculum Development in the instructional design, technical research, authoring, and development of web-based training programs and their corresponding materials. The Executive Director, Curriculum Development is also responsible for assisting in the development of new programs as well as review and maintenance of existing products for AHIP’s Insurance Education department.
Analyzes health and related legislation and regulation for both identification of new product development opportunities as well as maintenance of current curriculum portfolio
Utilizes AHIP resources, industry experts, and other educational outlets, to keep curriculum updated with the evolving regulations and events within the health care industry
Applies learning methodology and instructional design principles in all aspects of curriculum development
Uses project management processes to ensure on-time and quality delivery of learning solutions, effective use of resources, and maintenance of project documentation and files
Serves as a curriculum, implementation, and subject matter expert to assist in implementing effective sales strategies for existing and new client opportunities
Monitors industry, legislative, and regulatory developments for impact on current and potential program enrollees including agents, brokers, and those working within health plans

Detailed knowledge about the health Insurance Industry and demonstrated ability to monitor health care and related industry legislative and regulatory developments for impact on current curriculum and potential for new course product development
Excellent writing skills and command of the English language
Project management skills—ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and complete projects on time and within budget
Ability to interact and work effectively with project team members, including sales representatives, production staff, and clients
Some knowledge of instructional design techniques
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
8-10 years of work and writing experience within health insurance industry or related field
3-5 years of experience in course design (preferred)
3-5 years of prior project management responsibilities (preferred)
College degree required
Graduate degree in law and/or health policy desirable
Physical Work Activities & Conditions:
Continuous sitting for prolonged periods more than 4 consecutive hours in an 8-hour day
Keyboard use of greater or equal to 25 % of the workday
Percent of Travel: Occasional (up to 10%)
