The senor director of education is responsible for driving and advancing the development, management, delivery and measurement of ASA's educational content and professional development offerings including certification programs, live and virtual events, as well as identifying and creating new educational offerings based on member interest and research.
The senor director will foster member engagement with program planning, development and execution as the staff liaison for the association education and certification committee. This position reports to the vice president, education and strategic initiatives and supervises the day to day support of all department activities. This position supervises a dedicated small professional team of fun and engaged professionals, including the senior manager of education and certification; the senior manager of education and the coordinator for education and certification. The senior director works with the management team and all other staff as needed.
Bachelor's degree in education or adult learning (master's preferred), or minimum of 10 years’ experience in directing adult education or professional development programs. Demonstrated success in researching and developing new educational offerings, including materials and methods; evaluating and updating education programs and partners to keep current with best practices and emerging industry trends.
Demonstrated understanding of the certification process; e-learning; proven track record in planning and executing successful learning experiences; demonstrated ability to critique and analyze success of programs; identify industry and professional presenters. The senior director has strong skills in leadership and negotiation; as well as strong writing and editing abilities. Experience developing and managing budgets of $1 million+ annually.
Self-motivated, creative, team player and able to meet deadlines. Intellectually curious. Strong customer service experience, and ability to coordinate and supervise professional team and volunteer efforts. Experienced in budget planning and performance, marketing and program analysis. Skilled in project design and implementation and progressive technology alternatives. Committee liaison and staff leadership experience required. Association/education administration, iMIS knowledge and experience in staffing education a plus.
