DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER
The Digital Communications Manager is responsible for the Society for Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP) online and print presence, which includes maintaining both the SPSP and annual convention websites, designing and distributing communication to membership and key stakeholders, and designing print and digital content. The Digital Communications Manager regularly collaborates with team members to ensure that online and print content is accurate, current, and engaging.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties that occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job)
Develop, update, and maintain website content for both the SPSP and annual convention website with defined style and identity standards
Collaborate with SPSP team members to enhance and/or develop new online content and to coordinate editorial calendars and website content updates
Manage blog production by coordinating with editors, including but not limited to implementing editorial calendar and gathering and posting relevant blog and news content on a weekly basis
Select, manipulate, and manage art for all content
Maintain an updated editorial calendar to ensure timely updates to site
Work with outside vendor to ensure routine development updates are made and future development projects are implemented on time
Partner with Public & Media Relations Manager to track and analyze website metrics to evaluate performance and maximize efficiency
Manage production of monthly Membership and Student newsletters, including but not limited to coordinating submissions, overseeing hired writers, conducting interviews, writing original pieces, and editing
Assist the Membership Manager with design and sending all member communications, to include but not limited to announcements, advocacy alerts, newsletter, membership marketing/renewal, job opportunities and internships postings, and convention marketing
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL REQUIRED (Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately)
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Web Design, Marketing or related field
A minimum of three years of experience in Marketing, Design, or Communications with emphasis in editing, digital/web design and content creation.
Strong oral and written communication skills (to include excellent editing and grammar skills)
Demonstrated experience implementing best practices in digital communications
Knowledge of web content management systems; Drupal experience preferred
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
High level of initiative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat), video editing, and Google Analytics preferred but not required
Additional Salary Information: The Digital Communications Manager reports to the Public and Media Affairs Manager. This is a full-time, exempt position salaried between $55,000 - $65,000 and comes with comprehensive benefits.
