The Mathematical Association of America (MAA), seeks a full-time Community Coordinator to report to the Director of Member Engagement and Customer Relations. If you are a tech-savvy professional, problem-solver, critical thinker, and a quick study, we would like to meet you. Responsibilities include:
Community Support: Local Sections and SIGMAA (Special Interest Groups)
Provide administrative support for MAA member programs and communities including 29 regional sections, 17 special interest groups, student programs and activities, professional development programs, and association officers as needed.
Produce informational emails to Section and SIGMAA (Special Interest Groups) leadership (and members) via our email marketing system.
Track and measure Section email analytics and effectiveness of communications to inform recommendations to Section Officers.
Higher Logic: Community Engagement
Provide direct support and management for Higher Logic community platform, and spearhead best practice initiatives that will allow MAA to grow customer engagement and provide a deeper level of support to our member communities.
Work with Member Relations Director and Communications team to create and execute an online community strategy to drive member engagement.
Work with Communications teams to ensure language and content for our online community aligns with the association’s overall strategic initiatives, mission, and vision.
Event Logistics Support
Coordinate all aspects of the Committee on Undergraduate Student related events at national meetings; MAA MathFest Student Paper Sessions and Joint Mathematics Meeting Undergraduate Poster Session. Provide general onsite support in coordination with MAA meetings staff at conferences as needed.
Onsite management and support, management of online submissions for students and judges, draft email communications for students and judges, compiles content for the abstract publication and prints, and coordinates with Meetings and Events team as needed.
Serves as primary point of contact for Undergraduate Student Programs, which includes maintaining online submission processes and developing recommendations for the program.
Our ideal candidate must have the following attributes:
Strong work ethic, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively and is capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work successfully with multiple stakeholders with a great customer service mindset
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel -advanced level, PowerPoint, etc.).
Direct experience working with Higher Logic (or comparable) online community and association chapters or groups is a plus
Familiarity with web page editing as well as database and project management systems (e.g. Drupal, Personify, MS Access) is highly desirable
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3+ years of applicable experience. Association or non-profit experience is preferred.
