The AANA is recruiting for a talented Manager, Business Applications Development. This position supervises and manages the Application Development team and is responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation, and ongoing management of the AANA’s Association Management System (AMS), enterprise software applications and dependent databases. As AANA’s AMS product owner, the Manager will conduct business reviews and have primary accountability to deliver and maintain secure enterprise software solutions in support of operations and strategy. These activities will include gathering technical and business requirements from internal and external sources to determine optimal system configuration and customization to best serve the customer needs and deliver on all aspects of the project from concept through implementation.
The Manager,Business Applications Development is an individual who has strong knowledge of Association Management Systems (AMS) - preferably Aptify. This individual also has a strong grasp of data governance and data analytics.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads the strategic vision, execution, maintenance and quality assurance efforts for business applications within the AANA’s portfolio.
Proactively seeks ways to apply technology to business processes, researching and providing information to business managers on technical options and best practices.
Works with key business owners to develop application roadmaps and oversee the prioritization of project requests.
Develops and maintains strong working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels to understand their business drivers and recommend business solutions.
Works closely with the Membership department to consistently and proactively review short- and long-range strategic plans associated with staff needs, succession planning, and business system enhancements.
Maintains a technical summary of all project related work and provides status reports regarding important decisions, work in progress, future deliverable targets, resource capacity and interaction with other technical teams.
Works with cross-functional teams within and outside of technology to drive project requirements, development and deployment efforts.
Designs, develops, tests and produces reports from multiple data points as needed by AANA staff to further organizational business intelligence.
Experienced with Data & Business Intelligence Strategy, Insight and Analytics.
Leadership & Project Management:
Manages and supervises the application development team.
Mentors IT support staff to have a better grasp of organizational business processes and ensure successful support for all customers both internal and external.
Manages day to day work of application development team byidentifying, setting priority, and ensuring quality of work product.
Performs needs requirements, creates project plans and manages resources of the AANA application development team.
Works closely with Project Management Office to develop short- and long-term plans and overall implementation and execution of business solution related projects.
Manages technical projects.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
8-10+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role within an IT Department.
Minimum of 5 years of recent experience managing and application development team and/or program or project management experience in software application implementations.
Successful track record of business systems leadership, execution and delivery including experience leading IT application groups in applying innovative information systems solutions in support of the business.
Proficient in modeling/mapping as-is and to-be business processes, test planning, test case development and test execution.
Demonstrated skills and experience in report generation and ad hoc query tools such as SQL.
Excellent management, organizational, customer service, and communication (written and oral).
Demonstrated problem-solver with the ability to cope under pressure and coordinate multiple activities in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment.
Auditing experience in application and database security to ensure compliance with regulations.
Experience with resource planning, forecasting, and project delivery methodologies.
Experience in the evaluation of vendor software packages required.
Self-driven, motivated IT leader with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Additional experience to set you apart from other candidates:
IT Data Governance.
Strong familiarity with both Aptify OR other best-in-class AMS platforms.
Database administration, querying, and reporting in Microsoft SQL Server.
Knowledge of software life cycle activities in various development methodologies.
Related experience in working with healthcare professional membership associations a plus.
Experience in Business Intelligence and Data Warehouses and related tools. Microsoft BI experience a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Information Technology discipline or other applicable education required.
