Join BIAA as its Communications Specialist and you’ll make a difference as a key member of our team. We are looking for a talented, organized, detail oriented individual with strong writing, editing and other communications skills. Medical/healthcare communications experience is preferred.
In this role, you will provide support in the creation and delivery of print and electronic communications that increase awareness and understanding of brain injury; build name recognition and brand consistency; and support fund development for the Brain Injury Association of America.
Copywriting and proofreading: review all publications prior to release to ensure grammatical and typographic accuracy
Develop content (and/or curate content developed by others) for new and existing print and electronic communications
Maintain BIAA’s social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn
Respond to social media inquiries and online community comments,
Track and report social media results
Work with development staff to thank and monitor fundraisers and other donors on Facebook and Instagram
Maintain Constant Contact® database, ensuring low bounce and unsubscribe rates
Generate donor lists for Honor Roll and Annual Report
Maintain mailing list for BIAA’s quarterly magazine, THE Challenge!.
Other Activities and Tasks
Perform administrative tasks as requested by manager or CEO
Contribute to the development and monitoring of communications budgets
Submit regular written and oral reports
Travel as necessary (anticipate 1-2 trips per year)
Other activities as assigned.
One or more years of work experience, preferably in a related field
Bachelor’s degree in related discipline
Outstanding written communication skills
Knowledge of Associated Press (AP) editorial style preferred
Knowledge of content and email marketing best practices
Attention to detail and an ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and responsibilities
Ability to generate and edit copy quickly; superb proofreading skills,
Ability to meet deadlines
Ability to contribute to a team
Working knowledge of MS Office software is required
Experience with marketing automation tools such as HootSuite is preferred.
