Achilles International (Achilles) is a New York-based international organization with chapters and members in over 65 locations within the United States and abroad that provides support, training, and technical expertise to runners at all levels. Achilles welcomes people with all types of disabilities, including visual impairment, stroke, cerebral palsy, paraplegia, arthritis, amputation, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis, cancer, traumatic brain injury, among others. With the help of volunteer guides, athletes participate in workouts and races using crutches, wheelchairs, handcycles, prostheses, or unassisted. Achilles International seeks a President & CEO who is a mission-driven leader and fundraiser to shape and execute a long-term comprehensive strategic plan for growth of programs and expansion of philanthropic revenue. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of contributing to the strategic direction and operational management of a not-for-profit organization. Working closely with the Board of Directors, s/he will establish best practices in the areas of programs, finance, human resources, and governance. The President & CEO must possess superior communications and relationship management skills and the stature and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse external and internal stakeholders.
The President & CEO will be a multi-talented leader possessing the skills to strategize, operationalize, increase fundraising, and inspire and collaborate. S/he will report to the Executive Committee and be accountable to the Achilles International Board of Directors. The successful candidate will motivate, lead, and manage the staff for optimal performance and promote a culture of enthusiasm, cooperation, and commitment.
