As the Business Development Coordinator, you will raise revenue and expand business opportunities by creating and executing an ethical business strategy that focuses both on increasing revenue from existing relationships and identifying and securing opportunities with new organizations and business sectors. Reporting to the Vice President of Member Engagement and working closely with the Manager, MarCom Operations, you will help implement sales and marketing strategies and campaigns.
In your first few months, we anticipate that most of your time will be spent learning about CMAA’s products and the industry we operate within. Once you are up to speed, you will begin to nurture existing relationships while simultaneously researching new market opportunities. This is a hands-on role where you will frequently be on the phone and traveling to visit current and potential customers. Our industry is rapidly evolving and you will help us stay informed on changes and trends so we can leverage opportunities to expand to new audiences.
The Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) has nearly 16,000 members which include individual construction management practitioners, corporate members, and construction owners in the public and private sectors, along with academic and associate members. CMAA also has 29 regional chapters and student chapters at colleges and universities across the country. Our mission is to promote the profession of construction management and the use of qualified construction managers on capital projects and programs.
Responsibilities of the Business Development Coordinator
In collaboration with the VP of Member Engagement, develop and regularly update a comprehensive business development plan with targeted goals, objectives, methods, and quantifiable outcomes and timelines to achieve annual budget goals.
Work with marketing/communications to develop the collateral and communications strategy to ensure members and potential partners are aware of the new value-added services and products.
Serve as the relationship manager for designated sponsors and partners, cultivating relationships with current partners and developing new ones.
Develop prospectus, complete the sales cycle and project manage implementation of sponsorship commitments.
Conduct research to identify new prospective markets.
Qualifications of the Business Development Coordinator
Three years of experience in business development, product management, or sales. Knowledge of best practices in marketing. Professional society or trade association experience is strongly preferred.
Knowledge of content management and marketing automation systems. (Experience with Salesforce CRM is preferred.)
Research, analysis, and evaluation skills.
Ability to travel nationwide (up to 20 percent).
