The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and Foundation (RTDNF) is seeking a Director of Education and Events to oversee the creation and delivery of in-person and virtual training programs aimed at developing best practices, high quality ethics and innovation in journalism.
We’re looking for someone highly motivated and focused, with strong project management skills and a desire to constantly grow and improve our educational opportunities. This job will be perfect for someone wanting to develop unique training opportunities and manage and grow unique and innovative event experiences for RTDNA members and the journalism community.
RTDNA is looking for an association professional with a passion for creating, developing and managing educational programs to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and growing training programs, as well as managing events from conception to fruition. Responsibilities include creating new learning and training opportunities for RTDNA, planning and managing event logistics and execution, and evaluating the impact of our offerings. Experience with adult learning and/or event planning is a plus.
Build a curriculum for key RTDNA educational initiatives, including new offerings being introduced in the future
Work with staff and volunteers to determine the best content delivery method for each individual training program throughout the year
Recruit, coach and manage topical experts for each of our learning opportunities
Design speaker and trainer materials in collaboration with presenters and colleagues
Evaluate the success of the educational aspects of our annual conference and other programs against target metrics
Administrative support to ensure subject matter experts complete bios, submit headshots, sign waivers and are represented in digital and print materials
Logistics management and full event planning for each of RTDNA’s current and future events, including RTDNF First Amendment Dinner, annual conference, Edward R. Murrow Awards Gala and others.

Location: Virtual office; applicants must be willing to travel for events and staff in-person meetings throughout the year; preference given to Washington DC/Indiana applicants
Reports to: Director of Strategic Initiatives
Works closely with: Director of Membership, Marketing and Communication
Minimum two years of experience in event planning/event management
Experience in design, development, and delivery of professional and leadership development programs
There is travel included in this position; we anticipate roughly 10 percent of your time will be travel-related; expect a few days / up to a week of travel at a time periodically
Knowledge of adult learning and educational curriculum development a plus
Proactive project management skills
Experience collaborating with colleagues, volunteer committees and subject matter experts to design and develop educational programs
Exceptional organizational, time management and prioritization skills
Experience working with hotels or event centers, vendors and other outside service professionals
Strong problem solving, customer service and analytical skills
Experience managing to a budget
Association/not-for-profit experience a plus
Knowledge of the broadcast and digital journalism industry a plus
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present data and conclusions in an organized, concise manner
Ability to work and interact remotely
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff
Technology proficiency is necessary, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
