AOTA IS SEEKING A MANAGER OF DATA SCIENCE

The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is looking for a new Manager of Data Science to join our data science and research team. This person will provide key insights used for data informed decisions across the association.
The work you would do:
Identify internal and external data sources that provide value and can inform decision point for the association.
Manage AOTA data collection efforts and conduct analysis, leveraging advanced data analysis techniques.
Leverage AOTA data in order to increase engagement across our members and stakeholders to drive business value.
Uncover insight hidden in our vast repository of raw data and provide tactical guidance on how act on findings.
Use data to provide insights to improve the decision-making of our employees, and ultimately, to enhance the experience of our members and stakeholders.
Serve as a consultative partner to conduct analyses that will help determine targeting strategy.
Collaborate with diverse staff and teams to turn data into information and knowledge useful in decision-making.
Propose innovative ways to look at AOTA business imperatives by using data mining approaches on the set of information available.
The successful candidate should have:
Curiosity to ask questions and look to data to inform the answers.
Proficient in methods from data science and/or data analytics.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a quantitative field such as, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics or related scientific field with strong analytical backgrounds. Master’s degree preferred.
Four to six years of related work experience, or a combination of formal education and experience.
Comfort in using open sourced tools for complex wrangling and analytics or modeling (e.g., Python, R).
Experience in statistical modeling, data mining, and applying data base queries.
Skilled in critical thinking and identifying strategies for a novel project.
Excellent project management skills.
Ability to handle multiple priorities and adhere to strict deadlines with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Intuitive sense of how quantitative and technical work aligns closely with business priorities and business value.
Ability to synthesize conclusions for non-experts and desire to influence business decisions.
Expert level of competence in statistical software languages/packages and survey analytic tools.

Onsite status is preferred, but long distance telecommuting will be considered.
