The American Land Title Association, a non-partisan, national trade association representing the land title and real estate settlement industry, seeks an experienced program manager to develop and maintain key association products which are the industry standards driving delivery of title insurance and settlement services to customers in the marketplace. The ideal candidate has experience or an educational background in law, political science, or a field associated with real estate or mortgage finance. Experience with information systems and program or project management is beneficial. Document versioning and file naming schemes, along with deep knowledge of Microsoft Word features and functionality, will be critical to success. People management skills are a plus. Key characteristics of a successful Product Director include a strong organizational style, a keen attention to detail, and an eye for grammar and word usage. Some travel is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
ALTA Standard Title Insurance Policy Forms
Serves as a meeting coordinator, host, secretary, document manager, and scrivener for the ALTA Title Insurance Policy Forms Committee, supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of more than 100 ALTA standard title insurance policy forms, endorsements, and related documents.
Provides detailed version control and complex markups throughout the drafting, revision, and publication process; posts and distributes drafts as appropriate.
Conducts the processes and supporting documentation for a recommendation, adoption, public comment, publication, and copyright filing.
Schedules and hosts four in-person multi-day committee meetings annually. Travels to participate.
Schedules and hosts virtual committee and subcommittee meetings throughout the year.
Writes an annual update and periodic communications for industry stakeholders.
Serves as point of contact for questions about ALTA standard forms.
Performs oversight for requests to reprint ALTA standard forms.
ALTA Title and Settlement Company Best Practices
Serves as a meeting coordinator, host, secretary, document manager, and scrivener for the ALTA Best Practices Executive Committee and Task Force, supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of the ALTA Title and Settlement Company Best Practices Framework, Assessment Procedures, Representation Letter, Certification Package, and related documents.
Provides detailed version control and complex markups throughout the drafting, revision, and publication process; posts and distributes drafts as appropriate.
Conducts the processes and supporting documentation for the recommendation, adoption, public comment, publication, and copyright filing.
Schedules and hosts two in-person committee meetings annually. Travels to participate.
Schedules and hosts virtual committee and task force meetings throughout the year.
Serves as point of contact for questions about Best Practices.
Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys
Serves as a meeting coordinator, host, secretary, document manager, and scrivener for the ALTA Liaison Committee with the NSPS (National Society of Professional Surveyors), supporting the 5-year cycle of development and maintenance for the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
Provides detailed version control and complex markups throughout the drafting, revision, and publication process; posts and distributes drafts as appropriate.
Conducts the processes and supporting documentation for the recommendation, adoption, publication, and copyright filing.
Schedules and hosts in-person committee meetings as needed, generally three in-person meetings during the 12 months preceding recommendation of an updated standard. Travels to participate.
Schedules and hosts virtual committee and subcommittee meetings as needed.
Serves as point of contact for questions about the survey standard.
Committee Administration
For the committees served, coordinates volunteer communications, recommendations, and formal appointments with the ALTA President-Elect. Works with committee leadership to set committee goals that fit the committee's purpose and scope.
Supervises the Product Manager
The Product Manager is responsible for the ALTA Online Store; the Title Insurance Regulatory Survey (TIRS); marketing and budgeting for industry publications; support for state/regional land title association convention representation; and support for the ALTA Leadership Team.
Product Distribution and Promotion
Oversees the distribution, marketing, and promotion of products.
Legal & Regulatory Support
Manages association compliance with the Lobbying Disclosure Act.
Coordinates outside legal support and firms for association litigation and industry amicus briefs.
Prepares and tracks association trademark, copyright, and business filings.

Preferred Qualifications:
At least 5 years working in association management.
At least 3 years managing association components (e.g., committees, task forces, or special interest groups).
Experience or an educational background in law, political science, or a field associated with real estate or mortgage finance.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional experience with MS Word software including Track Changes, Document Compare, and all formatting features.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Fluency in English: written and oral.
Travel required: approximately 20%.
