Vice President of Membership & Meetings
The Vice President of Membership & Meetings (VP) at the National Confectioners Association is a dynamic role and exciting opportunity for someone with strong relationship-building skills and customer service orientation. He or she provides overall strategic direction and management of the association’s membership recruitment and retention efforts, and has oversight of and accountability for the execution of our signature events. Reporting to the Chief of Staff/SVP Operations, the VP will be a key member of the NCA senior leadership team and contributor as a strategic thought leader, with focus on ensuring member value in every activity and impeccable execution of our events in support of our advocacy and communications priorities and our membership value proposition. The VP will lead a team of four in their day-to-day operations, and will work closely with the Chief of Staff to deliver on the association’s priorities.
Membership recruitment – oversee recruitment efforts to convert nonmember trade show exhibitors, regain lapsed members, and attract important missing companies
Membership retention – oversee retention efforts to deepen and strengthen member company engagement through broader awareness and utilization of NCA’s resources
Membership dues renewal – serve as the primary architect of and tactician executing annual dues renewal campaign
Committee management – Serve as staff lead in the management of membership- and events-related committees
Event management – Provide oversight for all meeting contracting, vendor management, budgeting, registration, logistics, sales, and onsite execution for NCA’s signature events, and work in tandem with third-party partner on execution of our trade show
Education – serve as lead architect of content and programming for annual State of the Industry Conference
Marketing – collaborate with marketing team to ensure campaigns and collateral support event and association objectives
Business development – contribute thought leadership and support team members’ efforts to generate non-dues revenue through traditional event- and product-based sponsorships
Affinity groups – ensure NCA affinity groups (e.g., Women’s Leadership Group, Young Professionals Network) deliver ROI for participants and for NCA
Team lead – provide leadership and direction for team of four direct reports in membership, meetings and business development

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, 8-10 years’ experience in association management with specific experience working within and/or managing a membership and meetings function
A history of progressive leadership and management responsibility
Consumer packaged goods or food/beverage industry experience a plus
Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across the organization as a thought leader
Ability to motivate cross-functional teams, and lead and develop staff
Proven consensus builder
Strong customer service ethic and instinct
Excellent writing, speaking and interpersonal skills
