CLIENT ASSOCIATION: Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA)
REPORTS TO: Director of Education and Professional Development
DIRECT REPORTS: None
STATUS: Exempt (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week)
HOPA is a non-profit professional association of hematology/oncology pharmacists, working in various settings, leading from around the world dedicated to improving cancer patient outcomes. Reporting to the Director of Education and Professional Development and working closely with the association leadership and appropriate committees, the Scientific Affairs and Education Manager is responsible for the review, development, and updating of scientific and clinical, and practice content for Association learning activities. The Scientific Affairs and Education Manager, in concert with the HOPA leadership will serve as the oncology content expert.
With association leadership groups and relevant staff, develop project scopes of in-person and online educational activities
With the Education and Professional Development team, assist with the organization of existing resources (both internally and externally) into a comprehensive educational curriculum and identify opportunities for repurposing of educational content
In direct collaboration with subject matter experts and HOPA staff, assist in writing, revising, and creating scientific components of educational activities and enduring materials including but not limited to presentation slides, program education plans with robust needs assessments, educational objectives and scientific content for grants and proposals
Collaborate with the Communications Department to develop effective marketing strategies that include accurate and appropriate promotional collateral to bolster engagement of target audiences with educational activities and enduring materials
Collaborate with other Association staff on enhancing learning activities created to expand the knowledge and impact of the role of the pharmacist in the hematology/oncology community for a wide array of constituency groups and target audiences
With the Director of Education and Professional Development, ensure in-person and online education activities maintain compliance with any relevant accreditation guidelines and funder LOAs through the application of appropriate design, methodology and assessment models (ACPE, ACCME, BCOP, PhRMA, etc.)
Serve as staff support to various committees
Attend meetings and teleconferences as needed to plan, develop, and evaluate written projects; scribe during scientific meetings and prepare organized notes for participants
Assist with development of accurate and appropriate scientific copy for promotional and website materials
Assist the Education Managers in the development and tracking of project timelines, budgets and reports
Assist with writing and developing educational proposals for RFP’s and other education funding requests
Provide overall support for ongoing scientific/medical/practice educational programs and projects
Other duties as assigned
Advanced degree in (pharmacy, biomedical science, oncology, or hematology) or equivalent years of experience required
Previous biomedical science writing experience and strong knowledge/experience
Strong knowledge and experience in immunology and clinical oncology
Familiarity with curriculum development and adult learning principles preferred
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills
Computer proficiency and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
Ability to work independently but also with teams, both internally and externally
Familiarity with nonprofit boards of directors a plus
Travel of up to 3 weeks per year
Some evening and weekend work as needed
Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
