As a member of AMC’s Consulting team, the Senior Consultant will manage a diverse set of projects with both AMC client associations and “external” organizations drawing on superior communication skills, including the ability to listen, conduct interviews and facilitate focus groups with groups of members or meeting attendees. Our projects will range from governance assessments and strategic planning engagements to member research and other consulting projects that use data to help drive recommendations for clients. The senior consultant also will be a key contributor to our governance training portfolio, including presenting to client boards on orientation issues, roles and responsibilities, and other key topics. In most cases, you will serve as the main point of contact for the client and be responsible for leading an internal project team throughout the duration of the client relationship.
Interface with client leads and become a trusted advisor to the client, showing the utmost care for client information and operating with integrity in discussing client strategy.
Create and deliver presentation(s) and work product(s) based on client needs, serving as a subject matter expert.
Lead engaging, critical, and sometimes challenging conversations with board members and association leaders related to governance, strategy, and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) topics, among others.
Lead project teams as needed, providing frequent, clear and actionable feedback to team members.
Manage research strategy, including both qualitative and quantitative instruments, to advance our understanding of client challenges.
Manage work efforts to contract specifications.
Develop and foster successful client relationships.
Anticipate and communicate project risks, maintain accurate and timely project reporting.
Contribute to the development of AMC’s thought leadership and intellectual property.
Support AMC’s business development efforts in expanding the business.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage different client deadlines.
Navigate high-pressure situations with colleagues and clients.
Ability to customize projects and show flexibility when necessary to arrive at a suitable solution for clients.

Reports to this Position
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or similar field; Master’s degree is preferred
Director or manager-level association management or equivalent nonprofit consulting experience, including at least five years of success in project leadership, marketing or association governance
Ability to manage and deliver on advanced projects in a fast-paced environment often with tight deadlines
Proven experience in and knowledge of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) concepts and the ability to lead conversations on these topics
Exemplary writing and editing skills
Advanced critical thinking and analytical skills, including a proficiency in Excel and other data tools
An interest and proven record of success in professional presentations, including using virtual tools and platforms
Demonstrated success as a facilitator and group discussion leader
Ability to anticipate, diagnose and solve problems and challenges as they occur
Experience in market research methodology, including survey instrument design and execution, data analysis, and other research methods
Ability to handle highly confidential information appropriately, exercise discretion as appropriate, and remain sensitive to individual situations.
Commitment to innovation, creativity and teamwork; ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint; experience with survey tools, databases and/or business intelligence tools a plus
Must be able to travel as needed, up to 25%
