The Clinical Support System for Serious Mental Illness (CSS-SMI), known as SMI Adviser, is a 5-year initiative funded by SAMHSA. SMI Adviser offers training activities, on-demand consultation, and vetted resources to support delivery of evidence-based practices by frontline clinicians caring for those with serious mental illness (SMI), including major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.
The Data Visualization Analyst reports to the SMI Adviser Director and serves as a key technical member of SMI Adviser grant and supports the Division Education’s Chief with special data visualizations initiatives across the division and the APA. The Data Visualization Analyst designs, builds, and maintains business intelligence reporting solutions which aggregate online user data from, but not limited to, Salesforce, Google Analytics, and APA’s Learning Management System to create near real-time data reports and visualizations which describe user activities across the grant’s various websites. The Data Visualization Analysts makes data sets useful and meaningful by presenting key information in a variety of ways which is useful and appealing to end users. Responsibilities include requirements gathering, design, website+app development from the perspective of data collection, deployment and maintenance of business intelligence (BI) solutions and preparing tables + figures for reports and presentations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, organize, and automate data collection around key grant objectives.
Create and maintain a schema for a central data warehouse that will integrate user data from across project related computer systems.
Work with web-development/IT team and contractors to design, integrate, test, and deploy mechanism for data collection across project websites.
Ensure data quality and integrity from reporting system
Maintain PowerBI dashboard of key grant metrics which summarizes data via interactive tables and visualizations.
Design, code, test, and document a BI/Reporting systems, applications, and programs.
Coordinate with APA’s IT department to develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
Extract insights from data for stakeholder reporting.
Develop Data Analysis Summaries for reports and presentations. (Methods, benefits, problems)
Develop and deploy reports, dashboards and other output from BI and transactional systems.
Prepare analog data tables and graphs for inclusion in stakeholder reports and presentations.
Publish key data visualizations and explanatory descriptions to project websites.
Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in information technology, business analytics, health informatics, statistics or related field.
Prior related work experience a plus.
Strong SQL programming skills, and of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Ability to think strategically, analyze, and interpret information derived from data.
Required experience in performing ETL on datasets of all shapes and sizes.
Required experience with CRM platforms (Salesforce)
Required experience with cloud-based data collection platforms (Google Analytics, BigQuery).
Required experience with querying web data sources using APIs.
Required experience in building front-end BI reports using data exploration and data visualization tools (Power BI).
Experience in/Willingness to learn working with cloud-based data storage.
Basic understanding of HTML, PHP, and logic-based programming (.NET, JAVA, C#, etc.).
Full project management and development life cycle experience, including experience with data processing flowcharting techniques.
Good knowledge of applicable data privacy laws & data governance practices.
Ability to work with others as a team, as well as by themselves.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
