Convenience Distribution Association (CDA) seeks an organized, self-starting, motivated person who excels at member engagement, outreach, and communications for the Director of Member Engagement and Marketing. This position optimizes sales and participation of member events, programs, products, and services, and assists the Publisher of the quarterly magazine. The Director of Member Engagement and Marketing will build, develop and maintain relationships with members and key stakeholders to ensure we effectively leverage insights and understand the needs of our members and the industry.
CDA is a national trade association working on behalf of convenience products distributors that serve a variety of small retail formats. Association members include leading convenience products distributors, manufacturers, brokers and others allied to the industry.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Sales
Membership
Convenience Distribution Marketplace (CDM) event
Exhibitors, sponsorships and attendee registration
Convenience Distribution Business Exchange (CDBX) event
Supplier and distributor registration and sponsorship
Advertising in CDA print and digital published products
Other sales as opportunities develop
Marketing and Communications
CDM and CDBX (exhibits, converted meeting rooms/suites for suppliers, sponsorships and attendees)
Membership engagement
Magazine and published products that includes a weekly e-news (print and digital) that includes significant proofing and editing
Administration
Management of quarterly magazine, weekly enews, website, etc. (including advertising sales, timelines and budgets)
Registration for CDM and CDBX (currently using ExpoTracker)
CDBX Meeting Software (currently using MeetMax)
Budget development for CDM and CDBX
CDBX and CDM logistics for suppliers, exhibitors, sponsors and registration process
Business Programs (affinity, etc.)
Position Requirements:
A positive attitude; team player with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, computer skills and interpersonal skills; with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals
Extremely well organized, goal oriented and a very high attention to detail
Experience managing an association’s membership and business development opportunities; adept at making a sales pitch and recruiting new member companies
Excellent knowledge of marketing and high-quality customer service with the ability to nurture ongoing relationships with members to ensure solid retention each year
Proficient in Microsoft Office and be able to learn the organization’s database system and marketing tools
Communications experience (print and digital)
Demonstrated experience managing multiple diverse projects simultaneously
A high degree of responsibility, initiative and professionalism
At least five years of experience with trade associations preferred but not required
Some travel required
Education: four-year degree
