This position is located in Sacramento, California.
This is a full-time, nonexempt position. Under general supervision, the Member Services Specialist is responsible for handling the day-to-day operations of the California Lawyers Association’s (CLA) member database/association management system, including registration and MCLE data for education programs, membership enrollments, and the processing and depositing of payments. This position handles entering, revising, tracking, maintaining, uploading and retrieving data within systems, as well as providing reports. This position also assists with the preparation, packing and staffing for onsite education programs and events. The Member Services Specialist assists the manager in identifying procedures to maximize resources and provide optimal customer service and results. The Member Services Specialist handles inquiries from members and potential members, answers and directs phone calls and emails, assists with membership related issues and resolves complaints. The Member Services Specialist maintains expert knowledge about the organization, provides information, troubleshoots common issues and determines the most efficient and effective ways to answer questions, and escalates queries and concerns to the manager as appropriate. This position will require out of town, overnight travel up to 20%. This position is located in Sacramento, California and there is an option to work remotely some of the time.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Input of CLA member data from source documents into the database management system
Perform intermediate-level statistical data processing projects and develop and maintain data specification and codes for statistical programs and the transfer of data information from one media to another
Communicate and correspond with CLA members concerning member records and prepare and issue requested information
Provide member information to outside organizations
Design and prepare worksheets and statistical reports and maintain a library of computer-generated reports
Coordinate administrative procedures within the department
Assist in the planning of and logistical functions of programs and events, including maintaining supplies and materials
Provide customer support by responding to inquiries, providing updates, and requested information regarding programs or services, including review and response to written correspondence
Write and distribute email, correspondence memos, letters, and forms
Provide accounting and statistical support
Maintain a filing system
Evaluate administrative problems and procedures and recommend solutions and/or alternative methods of procedures to the appropriate responsible authority.
Perform other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent within the general level of the job and the responsibilities described above
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferably a minimum of two years post-secondary education
Preferably at least two years of experience interacting with and performing data control functions
Clear and effective communication in person, by telephone and in writing
Knowledge and use of the basic rules of vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Ability to perform business math for completing non-technical calculations
Familiarity with database record keeping systems
Ability to prepare data and reports
Ability to use research techniques and procedures
Assist in the logistical functions of an activity/event and maintain supplies and materials
