American Public Works Association (APWA) serves professionals in all aspects of public works by providing innovative education and credentialing opportunities for individuals working within the public works industry. The IT Systems Administrator proactively maintains the day-to-day operational aspects of the association’s IT network infrastructure.
More about the IT Systems Administrator Role:
Maintains the APWA network and hardware infrastructure by providing ongoing management, support and maintenance of the APWA networks and servers within established policies and standards. These responsibilities include the software and hardware elements of the network infrastructure and the desktop environment. The association has two offices (Kansas City and Washington DC) where this position manages the network environment as well as desktop support for 55 users. Duties include administration of software updates and patches; maintaining the wireless networks; overseeing the anti-malware systems, backups and disaster recovery; maintenance of Active Directory and various network scanning and reports. Troubleshoot any end-user and network related issues and coordinates with the IT department staff and impacted user groups with appropriate notice when systems will not be available. This position will also provide user group training and training materials.
What you will need to succeed:
Bachelor’s degree in an information technology related degree program combined with two years of applicable experience or a combination or related education and experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills working with a various audiences and individuals with various levels of technology experience.
Strong technical skills using VMware, Veeam and Office 265 virtual environment.
Strong team and collaborative style
Ability to prioritize workload with multiple projects, detail-oriented with flexibility to serve customers
