Digital Marketing Specialist
Reports To: Vice President of Marketing & Communications

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, the Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for the successful development, production, and dissemination of a variety of marketing and communications projects. The Digital Communications Specialist works with a range of internal stakeholders and teams to define collateral materials and messaging that best achieves identified business goals, optimizes the value of the content appearing on the Association’s website and on other digital platforms, and ensures that the content supports the Association’s brand and overall objectives. This position also provides other assistance within the Communications Department as specified. Occasional extended workdays or weekend work and domestic travel may be required.
The MPL Association offers a hybrid work environment; two in-office days are required per week.
- Digital Communications
- Produces weekly e-newsletter (MPL Newsbriefs); works closely with IT Department on formatting and distribution
- Works with Vice President of Marketing & Communications to develop copy as needed for other briefs, announcements, etc.
- Works with other departments (Government Relations, Research) to review digital publications and offer support as needed.
- Email Campaigns/Communications
- Generate email communications and message schedule to market MPL Association programs and content, collaborating with other departments as necessary.
- Experience in developing targeted mailing lists.
- Experience with Higher Logic, Constant Contact, or similar platform to schedule messages, measure the engagement, test, and adjust as necessary.
- Website content management
- Manages website day-to-day activities, responding quickly, professionally, and accurately to comments and questions from staff colleagues, members, and other stakeholders
- Ensures that overall content is updated and maintained and consistent with style guide, brand, and messaging
- Work with Meetings Department to create online content for meetings, workshops, webinars, or other events.
- Work with IT Department to ensure registration/purchasing functionality of events or publications is in place.
- Work with external designers and IT, both staff and vendors alike, for design updates and technical troubleshooting
- Use Google Analytics and other tools to measure and track website traffic and boost engagement.
- Social Media
- Manages social media channels to maximize engagement on platform, including, but not limited to, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Monitors and reports on social media to achieve effective engagement and audience-building.
- Experience with Hootsuite (or other social media management platforms) and Canva (or other graphic design software) a plus.
- Contributes to the development and management of digital community building platforms and/or vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree or higher; preferably in Business, Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, or related field.
- Three to five years of related experience in digital content development, communications, or marketing.
Position Requirements
- Proven experience in general and promotional writing, editing and proofreading, and publication production.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Assists in leveraging digital platforms to support overarching communication goals of the Association.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of marketing plans
- Ensures consistency and alignment with message and brand in all communication vehicles and marketing outreach, as well as brand reinforcement throughout all communications.
- Undertakes and completes special projects and supports Vice President of Marketing & Communications as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
