The Volunteer development coordinator is responsible for creatively and proactively overseeing NetVU’s volunteer programs including recruitment, training, placement, and recognition.  The Volunteer Development Coordinator will manage the volunteer initiatives at NetVU events and throughout the year.  A successful candidate will own the implementation of a volunteer management strategy for NetVU.

• Market and communicate NetVU’s Volunteer Program and services to membership
• Recruit and supervise volunteers to efficiently develop and carryout charge of activities.
• Collaborate with staff on the volunteer appointment process, adhoc volunteers, and mentorship opportunities to identify needs in which to plug volunteers toward support of NetVU programs.
• Supports the development of documents, policies, and practices for onboarding new volunteers
• Identify ongoing training and support to volunteers, including volunteer training and professional development opportunities to be provided by education department.
• Develop volunteer enrollment and pipeline for recruiting and managing volunteers.
• Develop volunteer program materials such as a policy and procedure manual, volunteer position descriptions, promotional materials, training, and evaluation tools, communicating to volunteer leaders as appropriate.
• Regularly updates resources, communicating to volunteer leaders as appropriate.
• Coordinate Volunteer appreciation programs.
• Assists in coordination of NetVU Awards program.
• Works cooperatively with other NetVU staff to accomplish goals and complete tasks in alignment with established standards, procedures, and workflows.
• Performs other functions as assigned to support NetVU projects, task forces, and general operations.

• BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university, OR three (3) years of related work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with volunteers.
• Applicants must have excellent people, phone and computer skills, be exceptionally organized, focused, proactive Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills.
• Strong communication (oral and written) skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite, particularly Word and Excel.
• Familiar with using a Database and internet research tools.
• Must be detail-oriented, demonstrate advanced analytical and critical thinking skills, and can manage multiple projects simultaneously, establish priorities, work independently, handle interruptions and proceed with objectives without supervision.
• The coordinator must be able to effectively communicate the organization’s mission with volunteers and provide frequent updates to leadership. 
• Ability to pro-actively handle and resolve problems with grace and diplomacy.
• Must be available on occasion for special meetings before or after regular office hours when required and for overnight travel 5-8 nights annually.
• High energy, positive “can do” attitude demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
