Primary purpose: Supports development of evidence-based clinical and administrative guidelines, supports manuscript writing process, and follows all clinical guidelines progress by attending meetings of the leadership and panels for each approved guideline. Supports presentations and publications for guidelines and other activities as assigned.
Responsibilities:
I. Evidence-based clinical practice guidelines
- Serves as a strategic partner and supports processes of guidelines development including writing and publication. Communicates with and supports volunteers, the American College of Critical Care Medicine Board of Regents, and SCCM leadership and staff to implement guidelines process improvement.
- Attends all guidelines meetings to gain understanding of the topic and its clinical context and maintains active engagement with all guidelines development processes.
- Serves on guidelines panels and supports the writing of the guideline manuscripts per Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation (GRADE) methodology.
- Adheres to Critical Care Medical journal or Pediatric Critical Care Medicine journal author guidelines
- Ensures that the manuscript is organized and concise, uses references correctly, and supports the Board of Regents and the Council with timely edits when requested.
- Supports the panel and leadership in ensuring that all supplemental materials to accompany the manuscript are in the proper order.
- Manages the checklists in the guidelines Standard Operating Procedure Manual.
- Works collaboratively with the implementation scientist on development of implementation tools to accompany all future guidelines.
- Ensures that volunteer communications are professional, accurate, and in compliance with SCCM policies.
II. Other functions as required to carry out SCCM’s mission and goals
- Serves as a staff partner or organizational representative to internal and external groups as assigned.
- Supports development of scientific articles.
- Supports literature reviews.
- Supports Quality and Research activities and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Clinical background such as physician, nurse, pharmacist, respiratory therapist, or related scientific field.
- Experience in guidelines development preferred.
- Successful track record in writing manuscripts and publishing required.
- Experience providing clinical, scientific, and/or medical expertise across areas of critical care, emergency medicine, or other related areas preferred.
- Strong organization skills and excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within teams and among external contractors.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
SCCM has a generous remote work policy. Employees must reside in or plan to relocate to the Chicagoland area but may work from home except when required to be in the office for collaborative work.
