The American Chemistry Council (ACC), a national trade association representing the world’s leading chemical and plastics manufacturers, currently has an opportunity for Director, Global Plastics Policy for its Plastics division. ACC represents its members on public policy issues; coordinates the industry’s research and testing programs; and administers Responsible Care®, the industry’s environment, health, safety and security performance improvement initiative.
The position is responsible for advocacy and coalition building for the Plastics division for purposes of advancing circular initiatives and sound public policy with key stakeholders across the plastics value chain. The position will lead participation in global multilateral forums and other venues, as well as support engagement in the International Council of Chemical Associations Plastics Leadership Group, World Plastics Council, and Global Plastics Alliance to develop policies through a collaborative process. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Global Plastics Policy.
Requirements include a bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of advocacy or related experience. Experience working on sustainability initiatives, the ability to engage in dialogue with business leaders, NGOs, and government officials, excellent written and oral communications skills, and the ability to travel internationally to attend conferences and workshops are a must. Experience in international affairs, working with Multilateral Environmental Agreements and plastics policy issues as well as expertise in developing partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve key objectives are preferred.
