Job Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director, Component Engagment, the Director, Component Engagement will provide standardized programming and support services to components that elevate their capacity to grow membership, engage stakeholders, and deliver cutting-edge programs and events. Working with an assigned subset of AIA components, the Director will focus on initiatives that strengthen the operational effectiveness of components rooted in association management best practices.
The Director will lead strategy and recommend changes that increase leadership effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, and productivity of AIA components. In all cases, the Director will act as a key influencer and connector among multiple entities including Component Executives, elected leadership, and other industry/ supplier partners. Through collaboration with other AIA staff, the Director will serve as the primary conduit for best practices and shared knowledge among the diverse network of AIA components.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and consulting support to component leaders on matters relating to membership growth, program expansion, business planning, AIA resources, and leadership development to identify learning and development gaps and solutions.
Works to infuse AIA goals and strategies through the programs and services offered to the component network.
Develops and draws upon an understanding of the needs of AIA components to contribute to strategic discussions to meet their unique needs.
Develops and fosters effective partnership relationships and communication with component leadership through proactive relationship management.
Develops content and process methods in the areas of strategy and business planning, ensuring they are current, valued, and meet the needs and expectations components.
Maintains in-depth knowledge of industry trends and drives the process of identifying new and emerging work to support the collective growth and development of components.
Develop and enhance programs that will enhance the professional and leadership expertise of component staff and volunteer leaders. This includes the planning of content, conference sessions, webinars, and networking events.
Provide benchmarking opportunities to evaluate Component Partnership programs and services.
Leverage data from surveys, benchmarking reports, and component accreditation to identify and address gaps in alignment between all tiers of the Institute.
In collaboration with AIA colleagues and component leaders, ensure alignment of Core Member Services with member value and component operational excellence.
Conduct onboarding of new component leaders and deliver resources that connect them to AIA centralized support services.
Supports strategies and tactics that evaluate the AIA network's composition and collective effectiveness. Work with staff, component, and volunteer leaders on brainstorming new models which reinforce the consistent delivery of member benefits.
Serve as an engaged and collaborative representative of AIA with members, prospects, and other relevant connections; strengthen relationships with individuals and institutions on behalf of AIA's strategic goals and priorities.
Basic Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and project management skills.
Excellent consensus building, negotiation, budget management, interpersonal, decision-making, and verbal/written communication skills essential .
Must be a strategic and innovative thinker with the ability to solve problems and execute initiatives; synthesize data and transfer into actionable outcomes; and serve as an effective liaison between or among various groups, including the ability to engage in successful negotiation, collaboration, and conflict resolution.

Work Environment: Must have a home office set up as this position is largely virtual/remote. Home internet service with speeds in excess of 3Mb in both directions (upload and download) through a broadband internet service is required. Bachelor's degree in business, communications, marketing, or related discipline preferred. Certified Association Executive (CAE) a plus. At least five years of professional experience in non-profit association management, iluding chapter relations, marketing, engagement initiatives, and developing and implementing strategic planning initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills and demonstrated understanding of individual member serving organization trends.
Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software.
Supervisory:
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
