Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the implementation of a strategic plan for membership recruitment, retention, and engagement designed to meet annual financial and membership goals.
Work collaboratively with key ICPAS staff to identify opportunities for enhanced member value, recruitment, retention, and engagement activities in all ICPAS programs and services.
Work with the Marketing Department to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing program for recruitment, retention, and promotion of member benefits and services.
Oversee all aspects of customer service/fulfillment to ensure the highest quality experience for members and customers.
Work with the membership team and the student initiatives team to advance members within the Society throughout their careers from Student Members to long-term members.
Oversee the member dues billing and renewal process for all membership categories including the dues mailings and communications, firm billing, lockbox management, and dues processing.
Regularly monitor progress towards meeting dues renewal goals and implement initiatives throughout the renewal season to increase member retention.
Supervise the policies, procedures, and personnel of the Society’s Membership Team.
Oversee management of membership data, including Aptify database and records maintenance processes, necessary for the accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality of membership records.
With IT and Finance, develop and oversee business processes, data standards, and financial transactions in the Aptify database.
Develop and execute an annual plan to increase young professional membership and involvement including all programs and services that will recruit and retain young professionals, help them advance throughout their careers, gain credibility, and make connections.
Manage the Society’s outreach initiatives to accounting firms including developing an annual plan of firm outreach and relationship-building activities to raise the Society’s visibility, value, membership, and involvement within the firms.
Develop and implement an annual plan for corporate finance and accounting member outreach and events to increase membership and engagement.
Oversee the Society’s women’s outreach initiatives and the Women’s Committee.
Work with the Assistant Director on initiatives for the Society’s chapters and Member Forums including the management of support via the chapter officer’s handbook, newsletter assistance, educational registration oversight, website management, and Speaker Resource Directory.
Prepare the annual dues and expense budget, monthly reports of progress, and detailed analysis of budget results.
Oversee production of all statistical/financial reports detailing membership activity and member demographics, and their relationship to goals, budget, and historical data.
Demonstrated Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, with master’s degree strongly preferred. A CAE is preferred.
At least 10 years of progressive experience in managing an association membership department, with at least 5 of the years in a strategic leadership role.
Creative visionary with a passion for membership recruitment, retention, and engagement, and the ability to clearly articulate ideas and concepts.
Data driven, systems thinker with proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive strategies to achieve targeted objectives that meet organizational needs.
Proven ability to develop, execute, and track a budget using organization’s goals, strategies, and business plan as a guide.
Strong interpersonal and communications skills – conversational, presentation, and business communications, marketing, and written strategic and operational plans.
Strong human relations skills, with a particular talent for problem resolution and working with a wide variety of members and staff.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and association management software, familiarity with Aptify a plus.
Experience with contract negotiations.
Travel required, mostly in Illinois (estimated 5-10%). Must have a valid driver’s license.
