The Wisconsin Dental Association is seeking to hire a full-time Director of Government Services. The position is based out of the WDA’s legislative office (5325 Wall St., Suite 200) in Madison.
The Director of Government Services leads the WDA’s Madison team (which includes a full-time dental practice/government relations associate and a part-time government services assistant) and serves as a senior member of association staff. This position is responsible for overseeing all facets of WDA governmental activity, including developing and implementing advocacy and public policy strategy, managing the WDA’s contract lobbying team, cultivating positive government and stakeholder relationships and keeping WDA leadership and dentist members engaged and informed about WDA legislative priorities, activities and achievements. The Director of Government Services also oversees the WDA Political Action Committee and Direct Giver conduit programs, including fundraising, disbursement of funds and managing the WDA’s work with a third-party consultant to ensure compliance with all reporting/filing laws.
This a collaborative position for an experienced government professional who values initiative, open communication and being part of a team. The Director of Government Services works closely with WDA officers, trustees and committee members (all of them volunteer dentists) and staff including the Executive Director, Director of Membership & Communications, Director of Finance and the WDA communications team. Some travel (mostly in-state, approximately 2-3 days/month) is required, with some events going into the evening and occasional overnight stays.
