The pay for this position ranges from $70k to $76k based on experience and qualifications for the role. This position is responsible for handling the day-to-day activities of the membership department, including membership marketing, recruitment and retention, and membership campaigns resulting in membership growth. They will regularly interact with members and provide excellent customer service, so members feel supported by AIHA and understand the value of their membership. This position will report to Director, Membership & Volunteer Relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Membership Recruitment, Retention, and Engagement
Manage all aspects of the membership process including new membership onboarding and activation workflow, timely invoicing, dues generation and renewal procedures, and the continual expansion and development of member profile data.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders to develop innovative marketing and communications strategies, plans and campaigns to promote AIHA’s value proposition to existing and prospective members.
Develop and track progress of membership marketing campaigns to meet or exceed goals for membership acquisition, retention, and renewals.
Monitor member pain points and provide recommendations to resolve the issues.
Prospect for new members by developing unique relationships with allied organizations and/or through list acquisition; implement systems to identify OEHS professionals with a high propensity to join.
Recommend new member services to enhance the member experience and develop new processes that will improve communications and staff efficiency.
Assist in the development and implementation of member and volunteer tools and resources (i.e., infographics, web ads) to generate consistent engagement in regional and topic-focused online communities.
Assist in the creation and maintenance of departmental SOPs and database reports.
Volunteer Group Management
Interact with volunteers on the Membership Advisory Group and work with the Director, Membership and Volunteer Relations to manage membership committee deliverables.
Work with all volunteer and staff stakeholders to consistently create a positive and engaging experience for every member.
Support initiatives that advance greater engagement and awareness of the association’s services.
Data Management
Generate and analyze comprehensive membership reports that highlight trends and risks/solutions.
Ensure data hygiene is achieved by working in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Ensure database cleanliness by removing errors and checking records for accuracy.
Make recommendations on database enhancements and improvement measures to maximize features and use of.
Serve as the department website content author; develop process for managing on-going review and updates.
Financial Responsibilities
Be conversationally aware of the budget for Membership and able to manage, in consultation with Director, Membership & Volunteer Relations.
Assist Director, Membership & Volunteer Relations in developing accurate projections, monitor income and expenses, and ensure the maintenance of accurate and detailed records.
Work with Finance Group to ensure proper invoicing and crediting.
Assist in developing entrepreneurial and innovative approaches to Membership to ensure financial success.
Support a strong value proposition for Membership.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise the at least one member from Member & Volunteer Relations.
Maintain a first-class team in coordination with supervisor, which may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and all applicable laws.
Effectively and thoroughly communicate short and long-term goals as well as shared vision with direct report(s).
Develop direct report(s) through personal development plans and cross-functional assignments, delegate projects and responsibilities for achieving goals to staff.
Provide action-oriented guidance and support.
Travel
Travel for this position is not anticipated.
Remote Work & Residency Requirement
This position is eligible to work remotely with the exception of Mondays. From time to time, it may be required to come into the office additional days based on business needs.
Based on our business set-up and to maximize remote work opportunities, AIHA only employs individuals who live in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia. To be considered a candidate must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia. AIHA does not cover the costs associated with relocating.
Education & Experience
Required:
7 – 10 years of experience in membership recruitment, retention, and engagement.
Progressive leadership experience in association or non-profit setting achieving revenue goals, maintaining database integrity, and managing budgets.
