Executive Director
Our company provides full-service management to trade and professional associations, as well as specialized services including non-profit financial management and event coordination. We are seeking a full-time Executive Director to support one of our clients, the Maryland MCO Association (MMCOA), which is a trade association for Maryland’s managed care organizations. The Executive Director will manage the MMCOA’s daily operations and advocate on behalf of industry priorities while upholding the highest ethical standards and acting with a focus on the MMCOA’s mission.
Primary Responsibilities:
Effectively collaborating with the Board of Directors, Board President, and Executive Officers to achieve Association goals.
Preparing materials, including agendas, for monthly Board meetings (virtual) and assisting the President of the MMCOA with running the meetings.
Performs a fiduciary function for the association, maintaining official minutes of the Board of Directors and other official meetings of the association, provides security and appropriate confidentiality for all files, legal and historic documents, membership and other databases.
Providing strategic planning and insight to the Board with plans for execution.
Plans, formulates, and recommends for the approval of the Board, policies and programs which will further the objectives of the association.
In cooperation with the accountant, treasurer, and/or finance committee, recommends monitors and operates within an annual budget. Works with the accountant to ensure timely and effective financial reports.
Provides business management of the associations’ publications, including journals, newsletters, brochures and directories.
Plans and executes all communications to the general membership, including such items as newsletters, general mailings, ballots, and surveys.
Serves as the “team leader”, coordinating and working with other support to the association(s), such as the accountant, web services contractor, graphic designer, newsletter, and others.
Advocating on behalf of the MMCOA before the Maryland legislature, executive branch, and administrative agencies.
Acting as spokesperson to represent the MCOs as one voice and communicating the Association’s mission, goals, and positions to external stakeholders.

A bachelor’s degree and at least 5-7 years of relevant work experience. Experience with association management, health care and/or Medicaid, advocacy and government relations services before the Maryland General Assembly and the Maryland Department of Health is preferred.
The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and visionary with exceptional attention to detail. Applicants must be comfortable with presenting, informing and motivating individuals and groups about the MMCOA mission and philosophy, demonstrate an ability to set a positive and productive culture for the Board, and have proven experience working effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Travel – Frequent meetings in the Annapolis and Baltimore-area.
Job Location – This is predominantly a telecommuting position. Must be based in Annapolis during legislative session (January – April).
