The Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (GGCSA) is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and visionary leader to serve as its Executive Director. This role involves overseeing the strategic, operational, and financial management of the association. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the golf course management industry, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to advocate effectively for golf course superintendents across Georgia. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board and Membership to facilitate communication, disseminate information, and maintain financial control, ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the Georgia GCSA.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Executive Director will be responsible for the following:
NATURE OF WORK: Plan, organize, direct, and manage all administrative duties for programs, activities, and daily operations of the Georgia GCSA, a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED: The Executive Director works under the supervision of the Georgia GCSA Executive Committee and serves as a non-voting member of the Board of Directors. This role provides information and assistance to the general membership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Board Communication and Execution:
Communicate essential operational aspects to the Board of Directors and execute all Board decisions as directed.
Plan, formulate, and recommend programs to the Board that enhance the goals and operations of the Georgia GCSA.
Executive Committee Support:
Execute decisions of the Executive Committee and keep them fully informed on the conditions and operations of the Georgia GCSA.
Meeting Management:
Organize, produce, and distribute agendas; attend, record, and distribute minutes and reports for all Board meetings.
Plan, promote, and manage all official meetings of the Association, including monthly meetings, speaker arrangements, venue details, registration, attendance, minute-taking, and fee collection.
Membership Support and Engagement:
Respond to member requests on a daily basis.
Foster strong relationships with members, understanding their needs and advocating on their behalf.
Develop and implement programs and services that enhance member value and satisfaction.
Assist in membership promotion and renewal programs and handle termination of delinquent members.
Legal and Tax Compliance:
Submit annual reporting documents to maintain legal association requirements at local, state, and national levels, including tax document preparation and submission.
Financial Management:
Develop and prepare the annual budget, provide quarterly updates, and manage financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
Reconcile bank accounts, manage money market funds, pay bills, and provide quarterly financial reports to the Board.
Oversee fundraising efforts, including sponsorships, grants, and membership dues.
Publication Management:
Serve as publisher for "Through the Green," the publication of the Georgia GCSA.
Public Relations and Networking:
Work with the public relations committee, correspond with allied associations, maintain relationships with local, regional, and national golf organizations and the media, and assist with chapter public relations.
Event and Conference Coordination:
Attend the GCSAA annual conference, organize and coordinate chapter dinner, and attend educational programs related to chapter management.
Attend national GCSAA meetings in Lawrence, KS as required, including executive director meetings.
Documentation and Security:
Provide security for all legal and historical files and documents.
Prepare and submit all annual documentation required to maintain affiliation with GCSAA.
Government Relations:
Act as Secretary to the Georgia Allied Golf Group and work with lobbyists on governmental issues.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Parliamentarian and Historian Support:
Act as Chapter Parliamentarian at official Association meetings and assist the Chapter Historian.
Serve as Association photographer at all events.
Education and Accreditation:
Coordinate seminars and educational meetings and assist with any reporting necessary for ongoing member accreditation requirements.
Special Projects:
Complete special projects and perform related duties as assigned.
Foundation Management:
Serve as Executive Director of the Georgia Golf Environmental Foundation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred in business administration, sports management, turf management, or a related field;
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in a leadership role within the golf course management industry or a related field.
Proven track record of successful strategic planning and execution.
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and fundraising experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and QuickBooks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Experience working with a board of directors and managing a membership-based organization.
Knowledge of the golf course management industry and issues affecting golf course superintendents.
