Position Overview:
As the Membership Manager at NMFTA, you will be pivotal in driving the operational and strategic growth of our membership base. You will oversee the development and execution of strategies for member recruitment, engagement, and retention, while managing the daily operations of the membership department. In this role, you will build and nurture relationships with industry stakeholders and represent NMFTA at key events. This position offers a unique opportunity for an experienced membership professional with a background in trade and professional associations to lead and shape our membership initiatives from the ground up. You will work closely with teams across Marketing, Communications, Finance, and the Executive team to deliver a seamless and impactful member experience, all in support of advancing the association’s mission.
Responsibilities:
Membership Strategy: Manage the development, execution, and evaluation of membership acquisition and retention strategies, including defining NMFTA’s member value proposition and improving the overall member experience
Member Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for all membership inquiries and applications, ensuring an exceptional level of service and engagement.
Event Participation:Represent NMFTA at conferences, trade shows, and member events to build relationships and promote the organization.
Data & Reporting: Oversee membership database management, tracking, and reporting, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records. Create regular membership reports for the Board of Directors.
Financial Management:Manage tasks related to membership dues payments, invoicing, and budget forecasting, working closely with the Finance team.
Program Development: Develop and coordinate member programs, webinars, and networking opportunities to foster a sense of community and engagement.
Communications: Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications teams to create and review membership-related communications, including promotional materials and newsletters.
Compliance:Ensure annual compliance with industry standards, membership guidelines, and organizational policies.
Perform other duties as assigned to support NMFTA’s strategic goals and initiatives.
Education:A Bachelor's degree is required.
Experience:A minimum of 5 years of experience in association management or membership development, with a focus on trade and professional associations, is required. Experience with AMS systems is also essential.
Skills: Strong project management, organizational, and time-management abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interpersonal: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with members, affiliates, and stakeholders.
Technical Proficiency: Master-level proficiency in AMS systems is required. Strong skills in MS Office Suite and online meeting platforms are also essential.
Additional Assets:Knowledge of industry trends, particularly in trucking or logistics, is a plus. Experience in these sectors will be beneficial in understanding and meeting the needs of our members.
