This is a salaried, exempt position that works remotely. The Membership and Marketing Specialist is a creative individual with a passion for aligning communication and promotional materials with a variety of audiences. The position maintains membership information in the ANA database and promotes the ANA internally and externally through strategic use of written and online communications, graphics, website, branding, social media, and the promotion of events, services, and products. The position will lead the development and implementation of marketing strategies to include membership information gathering and maintenance, targeted membership growth campaigns, meeting promotion, social media impact, member communications, and more. The Membership and Marketing Specialist oversees the marketing plan and strategies and will provide quality control, ensuring technically sound content, visually stimulating materials, consistency in messaging, and appropriate frequency and timing for release.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide quality marketing and member communications (both video and visual formats) for all association events and activities.
Development and execution of marketing strategy. Duties include:
Leads the association’s overall efforts to recruit, retain, and engage membership.
Oversight of all membership data, tracking and reporting, including but not limited to:
Accurate membership records
Membership trend analysis
Recruitment and retention reports
Current, new, and prospective member information
Member experience throughout join and renewal process
Work with CEO to set annual membership goals.
Serve as staff liaison to some committees of the association – assist committee chairs in planning meetings, development of agenda, and execution of committee activities.
Develop, design, and format visually engaging materials for web, print, electronic, and social media platform distribution.
Identify the current and future needs of ANA members.
Establish and drive a multi-channel marketing and communications strategy.
Provide market research and analytics to support team decision making.
Track outcomes on member communications across various platforms, provide reports to the team, and make data-driven recommendations for improvements.
Develop and implement action plans in the areas of marketing and communication to reach strategic goals.
Work with the CEO to estimate fiscal impacts for marketing and communication goals/strategies.
Execute the posting of content on social media to coincide with the strategic marketing plan.
Oversee the posting of content on and maintenance of the ANA website (WordPress).
Work with third party web designers to ensure our website is engaging, functional, and has the most recent content.
Develop distribution schedules for publications/communications and ensure they are met.
Review and streamline communications and communication releases to ensure we are maximizing our impacts with the intended audience.
Collaborate with the CEO to develop a proposed budget and implementation timeline to meet marketing plan goals.
Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, communication, business, public administration, or related field (may be substituted by five years’ marketing and communication experience).
Three years’ experience in graphic design, marketing, and communications in a professional environment; association work a plus.
Demonstrable experience in database management, digital marketing, social media platforms, devising campaigns, using analytics, using graphic and/or video design tools (Adobe applications, Movie maker, and/or web-based tools), and experience with modern communication technology tools (Microsoft Office suite and online meeting platforms).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to actively develop and implement marketing plan across multiple teams and platforms.
Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience with website development and maintenance.
Precise copy-editing abilities to include proofing narrative, visual content, and format.
Analytical and knows how to perform market research.
Fluency with social media platforms and social media marketing.
