The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), a leading trade organization headquartered in Washington, D.C., seeks a seasoned advocacy professional to assume the Chief Advocacy Officer (CAO) role. As the head of our Advocacy Group, this key position will oversee critical departments, including Federal Government Affairs, State and Local Government Affairs, Housing Finance, Regulatory, and Legal Advocacy. This role will also oversee all of NAHB’s political activities.
The CAO will play a key role in crafting and executing NAHB's advocacy strategies, fostering positive outcomes for the home-building industry. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proven record of effective leadership and management, with a skill for fostering a collaborative environment.
Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the Management Team, the CAO will be the primary link between NAHB leadership and advocacy matters.
Qualifications:
Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills are essential, as this key position will represent NAHB on home-building issues to internal and external audiences.
Proven leadership and management experience in advocacy, preferably within the housing or construction industry.
Extensive background in government affairs, regulatory affairs, and legal advocacy.
Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory frameworks.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to manage a staff of advocacy professionals.
Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
