General Summary:
The Chapter Advancement Manager plays a vital role in supporting the success of AMTA chapter volunteer operations through strategic development, instructional design, trainings, and resource coordination.
This role is dedicated to enhancing the AMTA chapter and volunteer experience by developing, implementing, and refining volunteer training programs. The position supports chapters in addressing complex challenges, onboarding and continuously developing volunteers, and creating actionable plans that align with AMTA policies, procedures, and strategic training initiatives.
The manager will serve as a key liaison to chapter leaders, providing guidance and consultation, facilitating access to online and in-person resources, championing best practices, and fostering a strong and connected volunteer network.
Responsibilities:
Lead AMTA’s Chapter Advancement Initiative (CAI) by serving as a trusted advisor and resource to chapter presidents, boards, and volunteers by building strong, collaborative relationships across all levels of chapter leadership.
Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for chapter volunteers.
Support chapters in resolving complex operational and organizational issues.
Develop and implement onboarding, training, and retraining processes for volunteers.
Guide chapters in creating action plans that align with AMTA’s standards and goals.
Continuously assess and improve training strategies to meet evolving chapter needs.
Guide chapter strategy and planning in alignment with AMTA bylaws, policies and national programs, supporting the development of annual and multi-year plans that increase volunteer and member engagement and value at the local level.
Design and deliver in-person and virtual training sessions to strengthen chapter operations, focusing on best practices, performance benchmarking, leadership development, advanced planning, sound budgeting, and fostering healthy chapter culture.
Promote the use of AMTA’s training resources and facilitate connections between chapter leaders, national staff, and appropriate subject matter experts.
Support a positive and collaborative culture between chapters, national volunteers, and AMTA staff through proactive communication and facilitation.
Provide guidance on chapter governance, budget, reporting requirements, education, government relations, and communication.
Represent the department at national AMTA meetings and events, as assigned.
In partnership with the supervisor, manage a robust travel schedule to ensure routine and consistent face-to-face engagement with each chapter.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the strategic goals of AMTA.

Education and Experience:
Five years of experience with membership organizations and volunteers required.
Three years of experience in developing and conducting trainings required.
Five years or more experience in a project management-related position.
Computer literacy, specifically MS Office Suite.
Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree a plus.
Comments:
This position will require some evening and weekend work. Must have the ability to travel extensively.
